Erdogan Starts Official Tour in Mideast

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan set off on Tuesday for a two-day diplomatic trip that includes visits to Saudi Arabia and Egypt, marking another step in Ankara’s regional engagement.

The president is traveling alongside First Lady Emine Erdogan, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek, Defense Minister Yasar Guler, and several other senior officials.

According to official statements, Erdogan is scheduled to hold talks in Riyadh with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The discussions are expected to focus on expanding cooperation between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, in addition to reviewing major regional and international issues.

Following his stay in Saudi Arabia, Erdogan will continue to Cairo on Wednesday at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. There, the two leaders are set to jointly chair the second session of the Türkiye-Egypt High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.

During the Egyptian leg of the visit, Erdogan and Sisi are anticipated to address bilateral relations and share views on broader regional and global developments, with particular attention given to the Palestinian issue, according to reports.

The Turkish president is also expected to take part in a Türkiye-Egypt Business Forum in Cairo as part of efforts to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
