Israeli Attacks Kill Over 20,000 Palestinian Students
The Palestinian Education Ministry stated that 19,910 students from Gaza and 148 students from the occupied West Bank were killed due to attacks by the Israeli army.
The ministry also revealed that Israeli military strikes left 30,097 students injured in Gaza, with another 1,042 injured in the West Bank.
Additionally, the ministry reported that 1,037 teachers and school administrative staff lost their lives, while 4,740 others sustained injuries. More than 228 individuals from the education sector have also been detained since the onset of the Israeli conflict in Gaza in October 2023.
The Israeli assaults have caused severe destruction in the education infrastructure. A total of 179 schools and 63 university buildings in Gaza were completely destroyed, with 118 government-run schools and 100 UN-managed schools partially damaged.
The ministry's data also indicated that 30 schools have been fully removed from the official registry, including both students and teachers.
In the West Bank, the ministry noted the complete destruction of two schools in Hebron and Tubas, and eight university buildings were partially damaged in repeated Israeli airstrikes.
The toll of Israeli attacks in Gaza has been catastrophic.
The Gaza Health Ministry reported that over 68,200 individuals have been killed, and more than 170,300 injured since the war began in October 2023.
