Israeli settlers get arrested after attacking IDF soldiers
The group had previously been involved in seizing Palestinian land and participating in attacks, according to general sources. The latest incident occurred near Ramallah, where the settlers clashed with soldiers who arrived at the scene.
According to the Israeli military, the settlers pelted soldiers with stones, resulting in minor injuries to one solider. Reports also state the group physically attacked troops, slashed the tires of military vehicles, and even attempted vehicular assaults on the soldiers. In separate incidents, the settlers reportedly rammed into army vehicles, threw Molotov cocktails, and set an army vehicle ablaze.
In response, soldiers fired live warning shots into the air to try to disperse the attackers—a move that has sparked controversy due to the use of live ammunition against Israeli settlers.
The same unit had previously used live fire during clashes on Wednesday, which led to the deaths of three Palestinians, further intensifying public scrutiny of military protocols.
The violent behavior by the settlers drew widespread condemnation across the Israeli political landscape. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, and opposition leader Yair Lapid all condemned the attacks, denouncing the assault on soldiers as unacceptable and dangerous.
