Algerian leader says Israel wants to make life impossible in Gaza
According to reports, his remarks were delivered in Algiers by Algeria’s Minister of Mujahideen and Rights-Holders Abdelmalek Tacherift during an event marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, observed each year on Nov. 29.
In the message, Tebboune said Israel’s continued attacks constitute open violations of core principles of international law and humanitarian norms. He noted that Israel is not only attempting to render life unbearable in Gaza but is also expanding its control over territories in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
He reiterated, “Israel’s continued aggression will not bring about the end of Palestine,” emphasizing that the destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure, assaults on the health system, the blockade, starvation tactics, and disregard for international law reflect an attempt to systematically eliminate Palestinian presence.
Tebboune urged the global community to act decisively to ensure Israel respects international obligations, lifts the blockade on Gaza without delay, and fully opens all crossings so humanitarian assistance can reach civilians in need.
Reasserting Algeria’s unwavering position on supporting Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations, he described this as “a fundamental step” toward securing Palestinians’ right to self-determination and statehood.
He concluded by affirming, “Algeria will remain committed to supporting its brothers in occupied Palestine and will spare no effort in defending their legitimate rights until they regain full sovereignty and establish a free and independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
